Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarships for his family and service in the local community. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. The second football was that he is the youngest of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. The team also took home the national title twice. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth time of service was ten-hours per week in volunteer work during the college. After graduation, he moved into Tampa and played nine years for the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. After that, he began his professional career. The year 1988 was the first time he was working as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 young stars across the nation. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch higher and weighing in at more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as a player, captained his team during the season of 1975. He was promoted to the athletic director's assistant at the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
