Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi along with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It went on to become the most one streamed music at that moment within just six months. A mix between reggaeton and pop music came out in 2017 by singer from Puerto Rico Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee. It became the most-streamed at that time within 6 months. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs from 2016 as opposed to two in 2015. In the height of Despacito's chart-topping success in 2017, 19 songs mainly composed in Spanish were in at the very top of 100. It climbed to 41 by 2020. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017. In the year following, popular artists began working with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) and Madonna collaborated on Medellin with Maluma (2019). A few performers of reggaeton lamented the trend towards mainstream music in 2020. However, a brand newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the growth and evolution of reggaeton. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music and different styles was an accepted method.
