Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised in the outskirts of Barcelona The singer has been described as being an "atypical pop star" due to her genre-bending musical styles. [9] She was captivated by Spanish folk music when she was just 13 years old. She studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music and was also a wedding singer. The album combines flamenco with hip-hop and pop The album was followed by "Malamente" (single) as well as "Pienso in tu mira (single). Both singles were a huge success and were praised by critics across the world. El Mal Querer was the first to bring Rosalia onto the international stage. Rosalia has explored urbano music in her 2019 releases "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi", had global success. Her third album, Motomami (2022), she gave reggaeton a fresh approach, deviating slightly from the original flamenco sound. Its songs "La Fama" and "Saoko" were able to capture the attention of global audiences and were the most praised album on Metacritic. Rosalia has scored ten number one singles in her career, all in her country of birth. It's the highest number for an artist hailing from the region. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Born in a family with no artistic backgrounds She is the eldest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who runs a small family company focused on metalwork. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They divorced in 2019. [23] Her older sister Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative director.
